Item - This is a lovely well made New Zealand Timber Lidded Jar by Kaimanawa of Cambridge, New Zealand, Circa 1970s possibly for Tobacco or Spices as the lid has a fantastic air tight seal, though there is no distinctive smell from within to give a correct assumption.
Maker - Kaimanawa Native Wood Products Limited of Cambridge, New Zealand
Stamps - The jar has a printed label to the underside of the lid that reads "Kaimanawa" NEW ZEALAND NATIVE TIMBERS, and then - TIMBERS :- REWA REWA, KAHIKATEA, TOTORA, TAWA, PUKATEA, MATAI, TOWAI Made at Cambridge, New Zealand
Material Type - Native New Zealand Woods
Circa - 1960/70s
Dimensions - 4.375" in diameter (3.75" in height)
Weight - 245 gram

Other Interesting Points - Kaimanawa Native Wood Products Limited of Cambridge, New Zealand started creating souvenirs made of New Zealand Timbers in the early 1960s (established 1962) including Rulers, Pencil Boxes, Bowls, Lidded Jars, Trays, Models, Tea Stands and even Tables; the business was sold of to a company in Rotorua in 1974.
