Item - Vintage Plictha of London 'Wemyss Ware' Piggy Bank painted in the Flowering Clover Pattern, Circa 1930-50s.
Jan Plictha was a Czechoslovakian Immigrant & Wholesaler based in London, England who bought mainly unmarked pieces from 'Wemyss Ware' from Bovey Pottery in Devon so that he could resell them under his name.
Bovey Pottery had bought the rights to produce the original 'Wemyss Ware' from Robert Heron & Sons of Kirkaldy (established Circa 1820) after their business failed during the depression of the 1920s.
Maker - Most Likely Bovey Pottery of Devon, though Plictha also bought pottery from Elton Pottery; Retailed by Plictha of London.
Marks - Stamped to the base with PLICTHA LONDON ENGLAND.
