Vintage Hounsfield Croydon Patent Safari Camp Folding Camp Bed Motoring Camping Spare Guest Camper Van 1930s 1940s VW

Item - Vintage Hounsfield Britsh Patent WYDSA Safari Folding Camp Bed, Circa 1930/40s. A Highly ingenious folding camp bed of it's time...it utilized a series of sprung steel supports to stretch a strong tough canvass and provide a very comfortable 'field' bed. The light-weight bed (5 kilo) is easy to assemble and was fist designed for use by the military. Would be ideal for Reenactments, Guest/Spare Rooms, Conservatories (day bed), Children's sleep-overs or even it's original use Camping! Stamps - Cast with details to all fittings & label with makers details. Also marked with Patent No 398545 which was granted to Hounsfield in 1934

Other Interesting Points - Hounsfield the engineering company was founded in 1904 by Leslie Hounsfield an outstanding engineer, an inventor with a genuine pioneering spirit always looking to embrace the very latest in technology and trying to use it to enhance people's lives as did this item the Hounsfield Safari Bed - Leslie designed the ingenious camp bed which utilized a series of sprung steel supports to stretch a strong tough canvass to provide a very comfortable 'field' bed. The light-weight bed, easy to assemble was fist designed for use by the military.
