Other Interesting Points - If you ever have done a spot of DIY or even put a shelf up, then you will have most likely used Rawlplugs; though it was over a 100 years ago that British Engineer John Joseph Rawlings was called to the British Museum to solve a problem of fixing electrical fittings to the walls without causing damage, leading to the invention of the Rawlplug - a fibre plug made from Jute and bonded with glue. In the 1960s the fibre plug was replaced by plastic and with the boom of DIY in the 1970/80s the humble plug became a firm household favourite for DIYers everywhere
