Item - Vintage Nickel Plated Cast Iron Bottle Opener made to advertise Tizer Special, Circa 1940/50s.

Marks - The Opener is cast to both sides with - "TIZER SPECIAL"; the opener is also cast to the top of the mouth on one side with the Design Registration Number 811274 (this granted in 1937), and to the other side the Patent Number 466444 (this granted in 1938) giving us the date of Circa 1940/50s

Other Interesting Points - Tizer was launched in 1920 by Fred Pickup of Manchester and was originally known as Pickup's Appetizer, though it would be not long before the red-coloured fruit based soft drink changed it's name to Tizer. In 1972 the Scottish Drinks company A. G. Barr bought Tizer for £2.5 million from the Armour Trust.
