Other Interesting Points - In 1895 John Paterson started a small baking business with his family in the town of Rutherglan, South Lanarkshire selling shortbread and oatcakes from a horse drawn van. The bakery was to remain in Rutherglen for over 75 years until it was relocated to Livingston, West Lothian in the 1970s. Paterson shortbread is still produced today at The Royal Burgh Bakery in Livingston though the company is no longer owned by the Paterson Family it is still a family favourite and currently the proud sponsor of the daytime television program 'Loose Women' on STV
