Other Interesting Points - This is a vintage 1/2 Minute pulse timer as used by nurses, doctors & medics, Circa 1900-1930s to check patients pulse rates. The timer is a sand filled glass tube similar to a egg timer encased within a nickel plated brass casing with a loop at the top which would have attached to a chain or chatelaine. The timer features windows to both sides to aid viewing of the sand so that the glass did not have to removed from its protective case. The glass tube is removable from the case if damaged by twisting the looped end. The pulse would have been counted while the sand moved to give the pulse rate and then multiplied by two!
