This is a Rather Nice Glazed Pottery Tankard produced by J. Abrahams & Sons Limited, Circa 1930s featuring advertisements of various establishments. The measured Pint Tankard is marked with the official weights & measures crown mark to the body, which includes the measure size, the Crown, the intials GR, and the Verification County number of 485 for Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent where it was checked for accuracy, this in turn collates with the maker J.Abrahams who was a Potter in the Potteries. The tankard was produced to be used within a Tavern/Bar, etc....hence the Weights & Measures Verification mark but was also produced to advertise....and features the names of the following eateries and watering holes -

ROYAL RESTAURANT West Nile St. GLASGOW

GRANT ARMS GARDEN LOUNGE AND GRILL 186 Argyle Street GLASGOW

ROGANO RESTAURANT & SEA FOOD BAR Exchange Place GLASGOW

GRAND CENTRAL BELFAST'S BEST HOTEL

The base of the tankard is applied with the makers mark - J. ABRAHAMS & SONS LTD., who as previosly mentioned was a Potteries Potter. The Tankard also features a decorative freize of forget-me-nots which is most likely a reference to the advertisements (Please see all Photos).

The Tankard measures 5” in height, with a diameter of  4.25” (at base rim) and is in Excellent Used Conditon, though there is a few nibbles to the base rim, some filled, some not; this is quite common as the tankards were quite often banged upon the bar top when service was required or tempers raised.
