Other Interesting Points - The firm was established in Birmingham by William Hutton in 1800, moving to Sheffield in 1832. After the death of William Hutton, William Carr Hutton continued to run the business and changed the company name to William Hutton & Son, unfortunately he was to follow his father to the grave, so in stepped Herbert Hutton and his two brothers James & Robert. Towards the end of the 19th Century the company began to blossom and took over two companies Favell & Co and Creswick & Co., whose 'crossed arrows' mark was used by Huttons. Huttons were renowned for the quality of their arts and crafts silverware & pewter items at the turn of the 19th/20th Centuries and continued successfully until the 1920s, when a lack of foresight led to their demise and they were swallowed up by the heavyweight of the time...James Dixon & Sons in 1930.
