Item - Antique Portable Type Chrome Plated Oval Home Safe Money Box issued by The Perth Savings Bank, Issue Number of 4482, manufactured by Taylor, Law & Co Limited (Tala) of Birmingham, Circa 1920/30s (Please see all photos).
Maker - Taylor, Law & Co Limited of Birmingham, England.
Stamps - Stamped to the base with the makers name and MADE IN ENGLAND.
Type - Portable
Circa - 1920/30s
Construction - Chrome Plated Metal

Dimensions - 3.80" by 1.85" (2.25" in height)
Weight - 169 gram
Condition - Excellent Used Condition apart from a couple of light slight scratches to the top and a bit of corrosion on the name plate (Please See All Pics).
Other Interesting Points - A Home Safe is generally accepted to mean a money box issued by a Bank, Building Society or other institution between 1900 and 1960s.
The Home Safe would be issued to a account holder but not the key, this was held onto by the bank, so that when the home safe was full it had to be returned to the Bank, who would then open it and deposit the money into the customers account, although many banks specified that the money remain in the account for a certain time, there were some that allowed instant access, but not many! When this type of saving was phased out some customers went to the bank, building society, etc... and asked for the key so that they could carry on using the box to save... there is now replacement keys being made and sold.
