Antique Nickel Plate Round Pea Whistle Circa 1900-20s James Dixon & Sons Railway Notched Window

Antique Nickel Plate Round Pea Whistle Circa 1900-20s James Dixon & Sons Railway Notched Window

Item - Original Antique High Quality Early 20th Century Nickel Silver Plated 'Round' Pea Whistle, Circa 1900-20s; this particular example is not marked with the makers name but after careful consideration and comparing to other known Whistles including the ones shown in Martyn Gilchrist's 'More Whistles' Book we believe this whistle to have been made by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, England as the diaphragm looks wrong to be Hudson who made a similar whistle.

This type of whistle was often used by Railway Companies prior to the escargot type becoming more common, they were also used by the Police and Sporting types.
