Item - Large Antique 19thCentury Machete Type Knife with 12" Blade , Circa 1860/80; this tool was most likely used within the harvesting industry, though equally this type of knife can be used as a slasher within the garden environment...little bit big for buttering one's bread. We have seen these in the past been referred to as corn knives and used for trimming corn stalks... all this aside what an extremely well built knife this is with its thick hardwood handle attached securely in place with brass fittings (please see all photos)
