Item - Antique Burroughs, Wellcome & Co 'Tabloid' Calomel Tiny (2.5" high) Glass Bottle with Contents, Circa 1900-1910; this tiny bottle features a screw top cap that is embossed with WELLCOME CHEMICAL WORKS OVER 270 HIGHEST AWARDS, the front of the bottle features a printed paper label. Other Interesting Points - Calomel was a 'cure-all' wonder drug believe to be able to cure all ailments from simple stomach issues through to Yellow Fever and was still used in the 1940s to treat soldiers in ww2. The truth in fact was that rather than helping patients it was actually poisoning them as it contained Mercury Sub-Chloride, eventually it was replaced with better and safer medicines.
