Want to Buy Retro Vintage VTech V Tech Socrates Educational Game System, Circa 1980s

This is a Original V-Tech Socrates Games System machine in full working order complete with instructions, tv lead and original box, though the box is a little tatty, the machine has survived well. The machine can either be powered using batteries (4x 1.5v in the infra-red unit, or mains (standard 12volt supply), though it was not supplied 'at new' with a mains supply. It has been tested using batteries and a compatable 12 volt supply and functioned perfectly, neither will be included with the consule. The VTech Socrates was an educational video game console released in 1988 by VTech. While the system was a commercial failure, it boasted many features that were well ahead of its time. The system featured standard wireless controllers that communicated via infra-red reception. Many games cartridges were available for the Socrates including: Fact 'N Fractions, State to State, Memory Mania, Around the World, Hodge Podge, and Amazing Mazes. Alongside this, other cartridges came available with different functions, such as the CAD Design System for designing different objects, and the Touch Pad system, mainly geared towards younger learners. There were games built into the console as well, including math, language, music and art programs. The system also featured voice capabilities through the use of an add-on voice cartridge which could be purchased separately. The system came standard with a wireless full keyboard and two controllers. Other optional hardware included a wireless mouse with attached mouse pad (mainly for use with the CAD Design Cartridge) and an electronic touchpad (for the Touch Pad cartridge.) The Game System comes complete with its handheld infra-red unit with two wired controllers, all battery covers, etc... intact, tv lead, instruction book and box (Please see all Photos). The Socrates System measures 13.25" by 8.75" with a height of 2.5" and is in Excellent Used Conditon (Please Refer to Photos).
