Other Interesting Points - Astraka was originally called Alfred Morris Furs, the company was formed in London in 1898, moved to Buckinghamshire in 1944 where it was located in a hall in Eldon; employing just three people, 5 years later the company moved to the Shildon Trading Estate. By the 1960s, Astraka was employing 400 people – mostly women – and was selling to all the top stores including Harrods and Selfridges. The company unfortunately went into receivership in 1988.
