Vintage Medical Doctors Nurse 1/4 Minute British Pulse Glass Timer Victorian Circa 1880-1900 Egg

This is a original quality vintage 1/4 Minute pulse timer as used by nurses and doctors, circa 1880-1900 to check patients pulse rates, prior to the invention of wind-up 'watch' type timers. The timer is a sand filled glass tube similar to a egg timer encased within a nickel plated brass casing with a loop at the top for attaching to the uniform and hand cut windows to both sides to aid viewing of the sand. The glass tube can be removed from the case by unscrewing the looped end fully, and gently pulling the glass from within. The timer is stamped to one side with 1/4 Min, and then to the other side BRITISH MAKE.
