This is a vintage tin of Bird's Baking Powder made by General Foods Limited of Banbury, Oxon, England, Circa 1950s. The tin is printed with the following details - Bird's BAKING POWDER TRADEMARK MIN. NET WT. 4 oz (113g) ORIGINAL MAKERS SINCE 1843 STORE IN A COOL DRY PLACE - HOW TO USE - With each 1/2lb of flour, measure and sieve Bird's Baking Powder in the following proportions Cakes, Sponges, Puddings, Buns - 1 teaspoonful - Batters, Dumplings, Pastry, Biscuits 1/2 teaspoonful. To keep the Baking Powder in perfect condition, always use a dry spoon and replace lid immediately after use. WHY BIRDS MAKE SUCCESS 3-TIMES SURE. The even controlled action of Bird's Baking Powder works once in the mixing bowl and twice in the oven, giving progressive raising until baking is completed.
