Item - Vintage Frister & Rossman (Class 48?) Sewing Machine in Original Inlaid Wooden Case, Circa 1888; the cabinet has a silver plated shield attached with the stamped name RHODA WHITAKER CHRISTMAS 1888, the spool holder is also stamped with the German Provisional Patent for 1884 - D.R.P. No. 127/84 (please see all photos)

Construction - Cast Iron/Wooden Casing (possibly Mahogany/Burr Walnut and Inlaid Woods) the base of the machine is also inlaid with a ruler

Condition - Excellent Used Condition, though the Rose design decals are quite rubbed, this said they are unusual to those usually found on Frister & Rossmann machines of this period. The Plating on the wheel has also been well rubbed through use, overall this is a well used and cared for machine that is over 130 years old.
Other Interesting Points - This particular model was sold by the Agent S. Loewe, 49 Fore Street, London (plaque to base of arm) and features a porcelain crank handle, solid brass carrying handle, Frister & Rossman Monogram lock plate, dated (1888) silver plate dated name plaque to top of cabinet - R. Whitaker, whom I guessed had a particular Good Christmas in 1888 recieving this beauty!
