The Sandow Spring-grip weights were made in 5 different types :- Children, Girls, Boys, Youths, Ladies and Gentlemen; with this particular pair being a gents size.
Eugen Sandow (April 2, 1867 – October 14, 1925), born Friederich Wilhelm Müller, was a pioneering bodybuilder of the Victorian era and is often referred to as the "Father of Modern Bodybuilding" and is pictured to the side of the box.
The weights weigh 1275 gram a piece and have two screws that hold them together it was intended that you started with just the two end springs in place, then as use increased to insert further springs; all springs have been removed and lightly coated with clock oil to keep them in tip top condition. The nickel plated ends of the weights have some light discolouration from use and age but overall the weights are in Very Good Used Condition and extremly useable (please see all photos).
The Weights measure 6.5" in length and are in Very Good Used Conditon, the box measures 7" x 6.25" (2.5" in depth) and is in Good Used Condition with wear and some spliting to the edges.
