Set of Four Vintage Blue Robin Day Polyprop Stacking Chairs made for Hille International

This is a set of Four original Hille International Polyprop Stacking Chairs in Blue, Circa 1960s,  designed by Robin Day, all four clearly stamped with the Hille trademark and FRB? The Chairs have a injection-moulded polypropylene seat shell mounted to a tubular steel framework.  The Chairs are in Very Good Used Condition with slights marks to the seat shells, and some scratching to the tubular steel framework, but quite unusual to find in blue! The Polyprop stacking chairs were designed by Robin Day in the early 1960s for Hille International, they became a success and was seen in schools, factories and village halls across the UK becuase of there strength, storage and cost. Hille's objective was to develop a cheaper version of the Eames'  fibreglass chairs for Herman Miller. Day determined to use the technology of injection-moulding polypropylene to create a single form for the seat shell. The technology - and Day's design - was so efficient that Hille could manufacture over 4,000 seat shells each week.  From 1963 to the present day over 14 million chairs have been sold in twenty three countries. It has been described as one of the most democratic modern designs of the 20th century. The Chairs can be collected or delivered locally to the Fylde Coast please contact for more details before purchasing at Tingirl@blueyonder.co.uk
