Rare Vintage Physical Culture Gym Boxed Weights H Broom Hull Spring Grip Dumbbell Circa 1930s Sandow

Item - Rare Vintage HTF (Hard to Find) Boxed H. Broom Spring Type Wooden Dumbells, Circa 1930s 

Maker - Produced for H. Broom of Broom Hall, 553 Holderness Road, Hull England

Stamps - The Front of the box has the printed image of H. Broom and also the details - H. BROOM HOLDER OF CERTIFIED WORLD'S RECORDS. BRITAIN'S PREMIER P.C. EXPERT SUPPLIED ONLY BY H.BROOM, Broom Hall, 553 Holderness Rd, HULL.

Material Type - Wood with Metal Sprinds and retaining brackets

Circa - 1930s

Dimensions - 5" by 2.5" each (Box measurements 6" square; depth 2.125")

Weight - 380 gram (weights light weighing approx 1/2lb a piece; possibly aimed at Juniors or Ladies)

Condition - Weights are in Excellent Used Condition, though the box is a little tatty and has had some tape repairs; overall good condition (please refer to photos)

Other Interesting Points - These Spring Grip Dumbells were marketed by H.Broom of Broom Hall, 553 Holderness Rd, Hull, England, Circa 1930s and are very similar in shape & design to the spring grip dumbells produced by Eugen Sandow, Circa 1900/30s; the main difference is in the material used for construction, Sandow's Weights were produced out of cast metal where as Broom's are made from Wood..........Both very much leaders in the Physical Culture World during their times, for more information on Sandow and Broom and in particular their weights please see the links below -
