This is a rare vintage 1937 Coronation shop display tin from Rowntree's of York, produced to be mounted on the wall as it has a triangle cut into the rear with rolled edge and the lid is pinned on. The tin is identical to the retail versions of the day printed with the flags of the commonwealth to the top and original brass King George VI/Queen Elizabeth Medal attached. The tin is in a decagon shape with all ten sides printed with a different image as follows -
- Her Majesty as Air Chief Marshall upon a Horse
- The King & Queen at Canberra, Australia
- The Royal Princesses
- The King & Queen at Clamis Pit, Durham
- The Wedding Service 1923
- The King & Queen at Suva, Fiji
- The Family on Buckingham Palace Balcony
- The Queen Inspecting Girl Guides in Jamaica
- At Duke of York's Boys Camp
- The Family at Glamis Castle
The rear of the tin even with the cut out still shows the bottom part of the Rowntrees embossed logo that features on tins made for Rowntrees of this period (Please see all Photos).
The Tin measures 5.5" in diameter (depth of 1.625") and is in Excellent Used Conditon, ready to hang or display within a collection of tins or royal memorabilia.
