A Rare Tate & Lyle Staff Post Ration 4lb Boxed Sugar Set Circa 1952

This is a extremly rare complimentry 4lb Boxed Sugar Set produced by Tate & Lyle Limited of 21 Mincing Lane, London, England; which was given to staff in 1952 at the end of sugar rationing in the U.K. after the end of  World War 2. The Set consists of a hinged cardboard box printed to the outside of the lid with Mr Cube a cartoon character, drawn by artist Bobby St John Cooper in 1949 to spearhead a advertising campaign to keep Tate & Lyle independent. The box opens to reveal a large printed complimentry slip and 4 bags of sugar, the inside of the lid is printed with the royal crest and the wording - By Appointment Sugar Refiners to the late King George VI With the compliments of Tate & Lyle Limited. The large complimentry slip introduces the 4 new speciality sugars - Finest Icing Sugar, Finest Caster Sugar, Finest Coffee Sugar Crystals and Finest Granulated Sugar and gives a brief description of each, the slip is also printed with the following text - Now that sugar is derationed, we take great pleasure in introducing to you our new packets of speciality sugars :-  Your Company hopes that you will enjoy these high quality sugars in their "new look" packets, and that you and your friends will continue to use them. 21 MINCING LANE, LONDON, E.C.3. TATE & LYLE, LIMITED, the slip also features Mr Cube. All four sugar packets are still within the box unused, full and sealed and in Excellent Condition, the complimentry slip unfortunately has a small crease, the outside of the box is foxed with a small area of water damage to the bottom right hand corner (please refer to photos). The Box measures 14" by 6.5" (depth of 2.25") and is in Very Good Used Conditon overall, though as mentioned there is light damage to the outside, the inside and the packets are in Excellent Condition having been protected well by the box (please refer to photos). There is a charge of £10.00 to all U.K. Residents (1st Class Mail Signed For, others P.O.A), will also ship Worldwide no problem but please contact before purchasing for price on Postage as this set is heavy and will either have to be split and sent as two packages or with another courier.
